About Sandra

I am married to Dr. Robert L. Groat. I am a doting and proud mother of three. I also have four adorable grandchildren. Greensboro has been my home for over 40 years. My children are natives of Greensboro and I love it as if I've been here all my life.

I am currently a Construction Consultant for Kelly & Co. For 29 years I was a successful homebuilder/land developer. We built 1200-1300 homes, mostly in the affordable housing arena. In a broader sense, we have provided employment for many people over this period of years. I am a common sense businesswoman with a heart. I am involved in my community and the city at large. Giving back is also important, as is fairness, respect of others, and being a dependable, honest person. It seems most of my life I have been building - building children, building a business and building communities. I want to create the kind of city for my children and yours to grow up in and have opportunities.

Districts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 have issues and concerns. They need to be heard with equal voices. I am a woman of vision for our City, but a vision is only as good as its implementation. I am tenacious and can keep sight of a goal and work for it for years if that is what is necessary. I have a passion and desire to work to see Greensboro be its highest and best. For 4 years, I have proven that I can commit the time and devotion required to be a part of City Council and be effective in the day to day decision making that affects all of us.
